0-0s commonplace in 2022 World Cup

Less than halfway through matchday two of the 2022 World Cup in Qatar, there have been no fewer than 5 0-0s. Teams have often been more interested in not losing than winning.

In the 2018 World Cup, there was just one 0-0 in the group stages and that came between Denmark and France.
In Germany 2006 and Brazil 2014, there were five goalless draws each in the group stages. The highest figure came in the 2010 World Cup in South Africa with six.
So far in the 2022 World Cup in Qatar, there have been five goalless draws. We had to wait until the third day of the competition. Denmark against Tunisia was the first one and Mexico against Poland came shortly afterwards.
The figure increased to five with matches thanks to Morocco against Croatia, Uruguay versus South Korea and England against USA. There are still more than 20 games left in the group stage.
The highest scoring games were England's 6-2 win over Iran followed by Spain's 7-0 victory over Costa Rica.
