There has been some controversy surrounding Liverpool full-back Trent Alexander-Arnold in recent days after he said that recent trophies won by the Reds mean more than those won by Manchester City as the Anfield outfit are not a Saudi-backed club.
Several members of the Sky Blues such as Erling Haaland and coach Pep Guardiola have responded to the Englishman's comments. Manuel Akanji was not to be outdone and also took a dig at the 25-year-old.
"I don’t know why he [Trent] said it. He didn’t even play. He can’t tell because he didn’t win it. That’s all I have to say. If you win three titles in one year, or five [titles] which we did last year, then he can speak again," he said.
The Switzerland international went on to add: "I don’t think it affected us. In the end, we tried to go on the pitch and try to show our performance. I mean, it didn’t affect me."
