Al Ittihad in Madrid to close Benzema deal

In Saudi Arabia, Karim Benzema is expected to join Al Ittihad. A Saudi television channel has confirmed that several representatives of the club have travelled to Madrid to close the deal. The Frenchman will sign for two seasons and will be paid 200 million euros.

Real Madrid announced that Karim Benzema will leave the Spanish side at the end of the season after 14 seasons at the Santiago Bernabeu. The Frenchman will play his last game for Ancelotti's team on Sunday against Athletic.
The striker is expected to join Al Ittihad but his future is uncertain. According to Saudi TV channel 'Al Ekhbariya', the president of Al Ittihad has travelled to Spain to close the deal for Benzema.
The same media outlet reports that the 35-year-old will sign for two campaigns and will earn 100 million euros per season he plays for Al Ittihad. Furthermore, he could become the ambassador of Saudi Arabia's bid for the 2030 World Cup.
Benzema could share the league with Cristiano Ronaldo, whom he has already played alongside at Real Madrid, if his transfer becomes official. The two could meet again on the pitch but as rivals as the Portuguese plays for Al Nassr.
Elsewhere, Al Hilal are trying to sign Lionel Messi, who has already announced that he will no longer play for Paris Saint-Germain. The Saudi club have offered 400 million euros to the Argentinian star.
