Al Ittihad not giving up on Salah: he would be the most expensive signing in football history

Al Ittihad have not given up on Salah. In the summer of last year, they made an approach that was leaked that could have brought more than €200m to Liverpool's coffers with two years left on the Egyptian's contract. Now, 'The Athletic', in an article reviewing the situations of some of the stars who will be released after the summer of 2025, mentions that the Saudis are ready to launch another bid in four months' time.
The newspaper states that the first proposal was for just over 175 million euros, not the 253 million euros that was talked about at the time, but it puts the potential second attempt by the Middle East offices at 234 million euros in the next transfer window. Should the Reds give the green light, they would receive the highest fee in football history, just ahead of the fee PSG took on when they bought Neymar from Barcelona for 222.
The side coached by Gerrard publicly acknowledged that they tried to bring in the Anfield legend when they announced the signing of Demarai Gray. They used a cartoon to unveil the signing and, as a wink, selected Jurgen Klopp's pupil just before he appeared on screen to say "no!" with an angry rictus that looks like it was, at the time, a source of derision from the West Asians' owners.

Al Ettifaq may have better luck in their second bid for Mohamed Salah, as the Egyptian is out of contract with Liverpool in the summer of next year and this is virtually the last chance for the offices of the club of his life to cash in on him. Even if he leaves for free, his trail of success is compensation enough, but, if he crowns his exit by leaving 234 million for the post-Klopp era, he will leave with even more honours.
