Al-Khelaifi: "We stopped European Super League"
Paris Saint-Germain president Nasser Al-Khelaifi appeared as a special guest at the summit of the Portuguese League's top officials, which is held every year at this time. The leader of the Parc des Princes is also the leader of the European Club Association and, in that capacity, he called the Super League defeated.

Taking advantage of the international break, the Portuguese League held its annual presidents' summit. It is usually held around this time. There were two guests of honour, the head of the European Club Association and Paris Saint-Germain Nasser Al-Khelaifi, and UEFA chief Aleksander Ceferin.
"Together, we are stronger. In the European Club Association, we give clubs a voice in the decisions that shape football. With Pedro Proenca and the European leagues, we have stopped the Super League. And we will make sure that this threat does not return," he said.
These words are morbid for two reasons. Firstly, he is delighted with the progress of the Iberians, who, if they continue in this way, will in future unseat Ligue 1 from the top five leagues in Europe, which is not a good thing for PSG. On the other hand, he was also delighted with the Superliga.
Another striking aspect of his speech is a fact. Thanks to an extract from his monologue, it became clear that he still holds part of the ownership of Sporting Braga. He bought a 22% stake in October 2022 through Qatar Sports Investments.
"I am proud to be a minority investor in Sporting Braga. I convey my best wishes to president António Salvador. Like France, Portugal is a factory of talent and has a fantastic fan base," he said.
"Portugal has a special place in sport. For a country of ten million inhabitants, you have an incredible impact in football, with eleven European titles won by your clubs and with your championship well positioned as well," he added.
"As president of PSG, Portugal is also close to my heart on a personal level. 16 Portuguese players have played for PSG, with four great players in our squad this season and, of course, our sporting director," he concluded.
