Carlo Ancelotti now has at his disposal all the international players who took part in the last international break. One of them returned to action after repeated injuries and did so in his country's comeback and victory. This is none other than David Alaba.
The Real Madrid centre-back had not played since 21st February against Liverpool (2-5). Alaba suffered a right hamstring strain in the 27th minute and had to make way for Nacho when the score was 2-1.
However, the Austria defender did play 45 minutes as he replaced Daniliuc at half-time. On his arrival in the Spanish capital, the former Bayern Munich man spoke about his relapses and showed his happiness after putting the injury behind him.
"I also questioned myself and drew conclusions. Maybe it was a bit too early. I played a lot of matches every three days in a row. Maybe I should have managed the matches a bit differently," he said.
Then Alaba added: "I'm very happy to be back on the pitch. I worked hard for that. We have very important games ahead of us in La Liga, the Copa del Rey and the Champions League and we still have goals this season that we want to achieve".
