Frenkie de Jong has a contract with FC Barcelona until 2026, which gives him room to decide what he wants to do in the future. As a result, the player is taking his time to make a decision.
According to 'Marca', Barcelona have already presented him with a renewal offer. The La Liga club have offered him to sign for three more seasons, i.e. until 2029.
De Jong's salary has not been touched in their new proposal as it is considered to be quite high. The midfielder will be paid 20 million euros gross next campaign and 24 million euros the following season.
De Jong has so far not responded to his club. The same media outlet considers that it is difficult for any club to make an offer for him, as his transfer would not be possible for less than 70 or 80 million euros.
The Dutchman is aware that time is on his side. His idea, according to 'Marca', is to stay in this situation and put pressure on Barcelona ahead of next summer, when he has only one year left on his contract and clubs start a race for his services.
