Alonso leaves Azmoun out of Leverkusen training session
Bayer Leverkusen coach Xabi Alonso has withdrawn Azmoun from first team training. The reason is that the Iranian, who spent last season on loan at Roma, turned up late for training preparations for the new season and was in poor physical condition.

Bayer Leverkusen coach Xabi Alonso left Iran striker Sardar Azmoun out of first-team training after the player was absent without excuse on the first day of pre-season.
Azmoun, who spent last season on loan at Roma, will train separately. The player not only missed the first day of training - which he later justified by saying he had been feeling unwell - but also turned up in poor physical condition.
Azmoun has a contract with Leverkusen until 2027 but is considered to have no future at the club and is being offered another destination. Roma had an option to buy for 12 million euros, but did not want to continue with the player.
The player has been linked with Sevilla, who seem more interested in a loan move. In German media, there is also talk of interest from teams in Qatar and Saudi Arabia Azmoun joined Leverkusen in 2022 from Zenit St. Petersburg for 2.5 million euros.
