Manchester City got their second win in a row in a tightly contested match against Newcastle as expected. A first half goal from Julian Alvarez was enough for the Sky Blues to take all three points.
Alvarez could be one of the benefactors of De Bruyne's lengthy lay-off. The Argentine scored 17 goals in his debut season in Manchester despite having to play largely second fiddle to Erling Haaland.
"It won’t be easy at all [to win the Treble again]. We achieved something that very few teams have been able to do, but of course the hunger, desire and passion to play well will still be there," said the Argentinian striker.
"I played in this position a few times last season too. I try to learn every day, to adapt to different positions that they play me in, the different movements I need to make to help the team – wherever that may be.
"I’m always happy when I’m called upon to play, it’s a great feeling and I always try to give my best to help the team," he said.
