Manchester United's latest acquisition, Patrick Dorgu, made his debut for the club in Friday night's FA Cup clash against Leicester City, with manager Ruben Amorim offering a measured assessment of the young defender's performance.
Dorgu, who typically operates as a left-back, was deployed on the right side of United's defence, showcasing his versatility. "He was a little bit anxious with the first touch of the ball. This is a different league for him, different speed of the game but he did well," Amorim explained after the match.
The Portuguese tactician highlighted Dorgu's physical attributes, stating, "He has pace, he has strength and he is going to improve a lot". Despite being substituted at half-time, Dorgu's debut showed promise, with the 20-year-old winning more duels (six) than any other player on the pitch in the first half.
Amorim acknowledged the need for patience, emphasising that Dorgu has only had three training sessions with the team. The manager also stressed the importance of the team's overall performance in helping new signings adapt, saying, "We as a team need to play better to help new guy perform at the right level".
