Manchester United manager Ruben Amorim has responded to Marcus Rashford's recent comments about being "ready for a new challenge", emphasising the forward's importance to the club.
Despite Rashford's omission from the squad in the recent Manchester derby victory, Amorim maintains that United are "better" with the 27-year-old England international. "This kind of club needs big talent and he's a big talent, so he just needs to perform at the highest level and that is my focus," Amorim stated, highlighting his commitment to helping Rashford regain his form.
The Portuguese manager acknowledged Rashford's desire for a new challenge, interpreting it within the context of United's current situation: "I think it's right. We have here a new challenge, it's a tough one." Amorim expressed hope that all his players, including Rashford, are prepared for the challenges ahead at what he describes as "one of the biggest clubs in the world".
The United boss revealed that the club will "try different things" to help Rashford rediscover his best form, which has been inconsistent this season. With United facing Tottenham in the EFL Cup quarter-finals, Amorim remained tight-lipped about whether Rashford or Alejandro Garnacho, both left out of the City match, would feature.
"We have one more training session, but it's the same situation (for) all the other players," Amorim explained, emphasising that selection would be based on training performance.
