Carlo Ancelotti has taken just one sentence to dismantle the new FIFA Club World Cup. The international organisation has increased the number of participants to 32 and only three remain to be decided, two from CONMEBOL and one from CONCACAF, but there is a serious problem for the organisation.
A number of the prospective participants will turn down the invitation to the tournament. The Real Madrid coach made this clear in an interview published on Monday morning in ‘Il Giornale’.
"FIFA has forgotten that players and clubs will not take part in this tournament. A single Real Madrid match is worth 20 million euros and that's what FIFA wants to give us for the whole tournament.
"Just like us, other clubs will refuse the invitation," he said when the journalist he was talking to simply asked him how the coming season is shaping up with this competition, La Liga and the Champions League.
