After a Tuesday off in which the big news at Real Madrid was the retirement of Toni Kroos at the end of the season, the first-team players returned to training on Wednesday at the Ciudad Deportiva de Valdebebas in a high-intensity session with the Champions League final on 1 June in mind.
The training session began with exercises in the gym before taking to the pitch to complete a day of work lasting more than two hours in which the coaching staff led by Carlo Ancelotti focused on being in peak physical condition for the match at Wembley.
Real Madrid will close LaLiga 2023-2024 as champions by hosting Betis this Saturday (21:00 CEST, -2 GMT) in a match in which ‘Carletto’ will play with a starting eleven that could be the starting eleven in the Champions League final so that they arrive with competitive rhythm in their legs.
Toni Kroos will start in the starting line-up. The German will play his last game at the Santiago Bernabeu after announcing that he will end his career at the end of his participation in this summer's European Championship.
Those who will miss the final league game are the injured David Alaba, recovering from the anterior cruciate ligament injury to his left knee suffered in December, and Aurelien Tchouameni, who has little chance of making the Champions League final due to the stress injury he has been suffering in his left foot since the semi-final second leg. Both continued with their respective recovery processes with the club's medical staff.
