The Europa League play-off return tie between Anderlecht and Fenerbahce was forcefully interrupted five minutes from kick-off due to a violent brawl in the stands. The fight broke out after Youssef En Nesyri opened the scoring from Edin Dzeko's assist to give the Turkish side the lead.
As a result, the referee decided to pause the game as the two teams returned to the dugouts, while security worked to dissolve the situation and restore order. The match was able to resume after 15 minutes of suspension as the situation had been put under control.
Footage circulating social media captured the Fenerbahce supporters, who were sitting in the away section, getting involved in the fight as they were allegedly attacked by some Belgian fans. Fortunately, the incident does not seem to have had any consequences.
With the tension already high after the first leg in Istanbul, which ended 3-0 in favour of Mourinho's side, the incident further increased the atmosphere in Anderlecht. Despite the interruption, the match has been able to continue as normal as the two sides play for a spot in the Europa League last 16 without further problems.
