The French Football Federation confirmed on Monday that Ferland Mendy has a right shinbone injury and will return to Spain for treatment with Real Madrid instead of being part of the France squad for their September international matches.

Less than two hours after Real Madrid reported on Monday morning that Dani Ceballos has a grade III sprain in his right ankle, the French Football Federation added Ferland Mendy to Carlo Ancelotti's list of absentees.
The French national team announced on social media that the full-back is out of Didier Deschamps' training camp with a right shinbone injury. He will be replaced by Lucas Digne, who plays for Aston Villa. This is his return to Les Bleues after more than two years out of the national team.
His most recent call-up dates back to the summer of 2022, when he was involved in Nations League commitments, the same competition they now face in the September international break.
The Madrid winger had started the La Liga match against Real Betis on Sunday night and was replaced after 65 minutes. In his club's previous domestic outings, he had started against both Las Palmas and Mallorca, although he was sent off at Son Moix.
"Ferland Mendy, who has a right tibia injury, is replaced by Lucas Digne, who will join the group this afternoon. Good recovery, Ferland," announced the French national team in a brief message. Fran Garcia is presented as his most obvious replacement at Madrid.
