After a quiet January transfer window, Arsenal appeared to have launched moves for the upcoming season. According to transfer expert Florian Plettenberg, the Gunners have begun talks with Bayern Munich midfielder Joshua Kimmich over a potential move next summer.
The Germany international could be available on the market as a free agent at the end of the campaign, with his contract tying him to the Bundesliga side set to expire in just a few months. And with reports emerging that Bayern Munich have withdrawn their latest offer to the player, Kimmich's future in Bavaria is becoming increasingly more uncertain.
Complications in getting the 30-year-old to extend his deal with Bayern are due to his elevated salary demands - he wants £320,000 of weekly wages - opening the door for a move to the Premier League. According to the same source, Kimmich is interested in hearing what Arsenal - and another foreign club - can bring to the table and is said to have informed club chiefs Eberl and Freund about the offers.
It is understood that Arteta sees Kimmich as a suitable replacement for Jorginho, who is also out of contract at the end of the season. The former Chelsea man is being heavily linked with a move to Brazil after admitting that he would be open to the idea of returning. "Yes, in the future, it’s a possibility. As I’ve already mentioned, I have never played professionally in Brazil so it would be an incredible experience for me," he said.
