And, according to 'Sky Sports', his dream is about to come true. The Gunners have reportedly reached an agreement in principle with Ajax to secure his services in the summer.
The same media outlet reports that the English side will pay £38.5 million - £34.2 million for his services plus £4.3 million in add-ons - for his transfer. Mikel Arteta's side have already signed Kai Havertz and are close to completing a new deal for Declan Rice for £105 million.
However, they not only want to strengthen their midfield but also their defence. The Netherlands international has been their top target to build a rock-solid defence next campaign. The 22-year-old will be signed by Arsenal to play as a right-back.
