The Spanish midfielder, who recently won Euro 2024 and played a key role in scoring the extra-time winner for 'la Roja' against Germany, has already agreed personal terms with Arteta's side and is edging ever closer to a move to England.
In fact, journalist Fabrizio Romano has reported that Arsenal remain in active talks with the Basque team and are discussing the final details, such as the structure of the deal, which is expected to be worth around 30 million euros.
Merino will thus end his six-year spell at Real Sociedad, in which he has made 242 official appearances, 219 of them as a starter, scoring 27 goals and providing 26 assists.
