La Liga faces a new week of competition before the upcoming international break. Luis de la Fuente himself will announce the squad this Friday and the list will include several surprises, as well as the almost certain exclusion of Brahim.
As 'AS' reported, one of the main novelties will be the call-up of Pau Cubarsi. The centre-back will make his debut with the Absolute National Team at just 17 years of age in the friendly matches against Colombia and Brazil.
The centre-back was one of the most outstanding players for 'La Rojita' at the last U17 World Cup. This has been one of his main points in favour of becoming an indisputable player at the back, where he has done more than enough merits to be an undisputed starter.
Cubarsi has been burning through the ranks at an incredible rate. He has only played 12 games, 9 of them as a starter, with the Barcelona first team, but that has been enough to convince Xavi, who has not hesitated to boast and praise a player who, if nothing goes wrong, will mark an era in his position.
However, the RFEF's main idea was for the defender to be called up to the U21 squad. However, another defensive display against Napoli led to a hasty change of mind. Moreover, according to this media, Barcelona have already received notification that their player will be called up.
Cubarsi will follow in the footsteps of his teammates Ansu Fati, Gavi and Lamine Yamal, who were also called up to the national team even though they were minors. There is no doubt that Cubarsi will be a centre-back for the future in 'La Roja', a position in which Spain are not short of players either.
