Athletic boss doesn't rule out Nico Williams' exit
Ernesto Valverde spoke to the press ahead of the La Liga match between Athletic Club and Getafe on Wednesday. The coach was questioned about the future of Nico Williams. "I have nothing to say, the market is open until the 30th for us and the rest of the teams to improve their squads," he said.

Nico Williams is Athletic Club's pending focus until the end of the summer transfer window. As expected, he was the main attraction in Ernesto Valverde's press conference ahead of the La Liga 2024/25 opener against Getafe at San Mames.
The coach addressed the issue with complete transparency: "I have nothing to say, the market is open. We have players like Nico who are very good here, but the market is open until the 30th so that we and the rest of the teams can improve their squads."
Ernesto Valverde insisted on the importance of the future of his new No.10: "That Nico can stay with us this season is important for our self-esteem. I don't know what can happen, but I certainly see it as very good. In that sense, we have always been very clear," he told reporters.
The change of number was a statement of intent from Athletic Club. Nico Williams is their most important asset and Barcelona are beginning to see the possibility of revolutionising their transfer market with the youngest of the brothers becoming more and more obscure.
