Atletico go for Barca's Lenglet as Hancko deal stalled
Clement Lenglet could become Atletico's new player in the next few days. According to 'ElDesmarque', the signing of David Hancko has been complicated for the 'Colchoneros', which has finally made them give the go-ahead to the 'Cules' player, who was offered a few days ago.

Atletico Madrid are looking for a centre-back and they could find one without leaving La Liga. Given the difficulties with Feyenoord over David Hancko, the favourite to take over the position, the Madrid side were offered the possibility of signing Clement Lenglet and it seems that they are willing to do so.
Despite initially saying "no" to this option because of the Barca player's high salary, 'ElDesmarque' claims that they have had second thoughts. So much so that, according to this source, the announcement could be made official in the next few days.
Hansi Flick was not counting on him for the 2024-25 season, so the Camp Nou outfit have moved quickly to find a destination for him. He was in a hurry to say goodbye in order to free up his wages and, thus, be able to use that money in the market.
Diego Pablo Simeone has given the go-ahead to the deal and Atletico have got down to work. As soon as Lenglet learned of the Madrid side's interest, he turned down another offer from Villarreal, who, until a few hours ago, were to be his destination.
Atletico are hoping that Lenglet, who arrives to fill the vacancy left vacant by Mario Hermoso, will adapt to the team's play. After two seasons in the Premier League, one on loan at Tottenham and the other at West Ham, the Frenchman, if nothing changes, will return to play in La Liga, albeit in different colours.
