Atletico Madrid's Carlos Martin set to join Alaves on loan
Pending official confirmation, Carlos Martin will go on loan to Alaves this season. He will follow in the footsteps of Giuliano Simeone last season, also on loan in the ranks of the ‘Babazorro’ team, although this season he aims to stay in the Atletico Madrid first team alongside his father Diego Pablo Simeone.

Atletico Madrid has been one of the clubs that has made the most moves in the transfer window. The Madrid side have strengthened their squad with players of guaranteed quality, among them Sorloth and Julian Alvarez.
One of those whose days could be numbered in the ‘Colchoneros’ squad is Carlos Martin. The striker has done the pre-season with the first team and even had his place in the squad. However, the high level of competition in the attacking ranks is inviting him to look for playing time away from the Metropolitano.
As several Spanish media have already pointed out, the academy player will go on loan to Alaves until the end of the season. That was one of the main conditions in case he left the team: to go out on loan and, if possible, to a La Liga side.
Carlos Martin will follow a similar plan to Giuliano Simeone, who also spent a campaign on loan in Mendizorra, although a serious injury kept him away from the pitch for most of the season. In fact, the Argentinian striker is aiming to stay in the Atletico first team this season and play, for the first time, a season as a 'Colchonero' player alongside his father, Cholo Simeone. For his part, the 22-year-old Spanish striker will continue his development in Vitoria, a place where he is sure to give a lot of joy throughout the season. His future coach, Luis Garcia, has already spoken about his more than likely arrival: "As a football player, I like him, yes. He is a good player. Moreover, he is a player who adapts to what we are looking for: a lot of versatility. With Santi Denia he plays as a No 9, he can play as a playmaker, on the wing... he's a good player for La Liga".
