Atletico are preparing for their clash against Valencia and Diego Pablo Simeone seems to have a clear idea of the XI he will start with. On Thursday, he tried out Alexander Sorloth and Antoine Griezmann together up front. Julian Alvarez did not train after his call-up with Argentina and Simeone intends to rest him.

Atletico Madrid coach Diego Simeone on Thursday tested an eleven with Alexander Sorloth and Antoine Griezmann in attack, Conor Gallagher in midfield, Jose Maria Gimenez and Robin Le Normand in defence and Jan Oblak in goal for Sunday's game against Valencia at the Civitas Metropolitano.
The wing-backs Marcos Llorente, on the right, and Rodrigo Riquelme, on the left; centre-back Cesar Azpilicueta; midfielder Koke Resurreccion and winger Samuel Lino completed the eleven tried out on Thursday by the Argentine coach, with the only condition being that he did not have Julian Alvarez or Reinildo Mandava in the starting line-up.
Neither of the two trained with the group in the afternoon session, as both the Argentine attacker and the Mozambican full-back had individualised and specific work after playing the two matches with their respective national teams, so it is expected that on Friday they will be back in the team's dynamic.
In any case, neither of the two are expected to start next Sunday, as neither Rodrigo de Paul nor Nahuel Molina or Giuliano Simeone, who also returned to training on Thursday after their training camp with the Argentine national team.
Conor Gallagher also joined the squad, although in his case, he went straight into the likely eleven for Sunday.
Jan Oblak is ready, after missing the first of two matches with the Slovenian national team and his absence from the last match against Athletic Club due to an indisposition, to return to the starting line-up in goal for the Spanish team, where he is a regular starter.
So too are Le Normand and Griezmann in Sunday's line-up, which will be made up of up to five players who have been away on international duty over the last week and a half, as well as Sorloth and Gallagher.
Clement Lenglet will still have to wait on the bench for his debut for the Madrid side following his summer signing.
