Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang joined Chelsea for the 2022/23 season but was unable to feel comfortable at Stamford Bridge. He only played 23 appearances, scoring three goals and assisting once.
As a result, the Gabonese sought a new destination in the summer transfer window to end his spell with Chelsea and signed for Olympique Marseille until 2026.
His father gave an interview to 'L'Equipe' after the official announcement and criticised the Premier League side for how they had treated his son.
"At Chelsea, he played with a mask at the start. It could only be a nightmare year. Now it's over. He has a smile. He knows that I'm seeing the light again because I can walk and run since my last operation," he began.
"He's signing for [Marseille]. It is a big relief after the nightmare year that he experienced [at Chelsea]. There was contact with Saudi Arabia, but when [Marseille] come forward… who hasn't dreamed of playing for this club? Especially in Africa. I keep receiving messages from back home," he added.
