The midfielder returned home to Birmingham from Germany on Thursday. Bellingham was spotted by photographer Florian Groeger with a brace covering his right knee.
The Englishman will spend his holidays in England while talks about his future continue. The 19-year-old is still Real Madrid's main target to strengthen their midfield next season.
Borussia Dortmund sporting director Sebastian Kehl spoke again about his future in a press conference: "I can say that things will become clear in the next few days and weeks. But nothing has happened at the moment," he told reporters.
