Bad news for Madrid: Militao forced off with injury

Real Madrid faced Athletic in their first match of the 2023/24 season in La Liga and won 2-0 thanks to goals scored by Rodrygo Goes and Jude Bellingham. However, they lost a key player.
Eder Militao had to leave the pitch at the San Mames stadium in the 50th minute due to injury and was replaced by Antonio Rudiger. The Brazilian defender was helped by Madrid's medical staff and left the stadium with tears in his eyes.
The 25-year-old will undergo medical tests on Sunday after hurting his knee, according to several reports in Spain. Carlo Ancelotti, who currently coaches Madrid, provided an update on his injury in the post-match press conference.
"He seems to be suffering from a sprained knee. It doesn't look good to be honest. We will assess his injury in the next few hours. We can only hope it's nothing bad," he told reporters.
The season has only just begun and Real Madrid are already dealing with major injuries. First-choice goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois has torn his ACL and is likely to miss the entire 2023/24 season. The Spanish giants are already working on bringing in his replacement.
