Netherlands' Allard Lindhout and Slovakia's Ivan Kruzliak have been appointed to referee Thursday's Monaco-Barcelona and Atletico Madrid-RB Leipzig matches respectively in the first matchday of the 2024-25 Champions League.
Lindhout, 27, will be assisted on the sidelines by compatriots Rogier Honig and Patrick Inia, the fourth official will be Joey Kooij and the VAR will be officiated by fellow Dutchmen Dennis Higler and Clay Ruperti.
The Warmond referee led Monaco to a 3-1 friendly win at Feyenoord on 31 July, while with Barcelona he was the fourth official in matches at Juventus (0-2) in October 2020, at Bayern Munich (2-0) in September 2022 and last March at home to Napoli (3-1).
Kruzliak will be assisted on the Metropolitano sidelines by his compatriots Branislav Hancko and Jan Pozor, the fourth official will be Peter Kralovic and the VAR will be manned by Poland's Tomasz Kwiatkowski and Piotr Lasyk.
The Bratislava referee has twice officiated Atletico at home, in the 3-1 win over Brugge in October 2018 and the 6-0 win over Celtic in November last year, while with RB Leipzig he was fourth official in the 3-1 home clash with Rangers in May 2022.
