"Barca Games is essential to the growth of the club"

Barcelona president Joan Laporta said on Wednesday at the Barca Games launch event that the new video game platform is "an essential part of the club's growth".
"Barca Games responds to Barcelona's commitment to continue promoting the construction of our virtual digital space. And we are doing so by bringing together fans from all over the world, especially the younger generations, in a digital community and reinforcing their sense of belonging to Barcelona," he explained at the Auditori 1899.
Laporta recalled that last April, the club presented Barca One, the club's new streaming platform. And with the launch of Barca Games, the club has taken a further step towards connecting and interacting with the gamer world.
Barca Games CEO Marcelo Liberini said that it is "the first global video game platform created by a football club", although the initial plan was to launch it as a mobile app, which is already available in Spain, Portugal and Latin America.
