The 2022-23 season is half over, but Barca are looking beyond that and are preparing for the next one. The Catalan club have stopped short of making the occasional signing in the winter transfer window and will be back at it in a few months' time.
'Mundo Deportivo' claims that the 'Cules' have already set a plan for the summer transfer window. On their agenda there are three important names: Yannick Carrasco, Sofyan Amrabat and Vitor Roque.
Barca sporting director Mateu Alemany told the last assembly the plan to be followed by the club in the summer. They need bargains, players who arrive free or at a low price. They also need young players who have not yet broken through to turn them into stars.
Barca didn't have to think too hard when it came to setting their priorities. Firstly, they want to get Carrasco. They already wanted him for the winter market, but Atletico refused to let him leave in the 'Memphis operation'. The Catalans did manage to get their hands on a preferential option to buy him for around 20 million euros, which they plan to execute as soon as the summer arrives, as agreed with the 'Colchoneros'.
The Catalan giants are determined to return to the race for Amrabat. The club tried to sign him on loan, but after a long day of negotiations with Fiorentina, they had to resign themselves to doing without him for the rest of the season. But they have not forgotten about him and will try to sign the midfielder for the 2023-24 season.
Last but not least, Barcelona will do everything in their power to sign Vitor Roque. He is one of the most fashionable talents in Brazilian football. He plays for Athletico Paranaense and is excelling with the 'Selecao' in the South American Under 20. The player would be delighted to try out at the Camp Nou, so the club would have part of the work done. The Brazilian club to which he belongs, according to 'Mundo Deportivo', will try to make things easier for the Spanish side so that the transfer can be made while respecting the 'Financial Fair Play'.
And these are not the only pending issues for the Catalan club. The club are also working on renewals for Balde, Dembele, Busquets, Inaki Pena and Sergi Roberto. The next few months will be busy at the Spanish club, but the board hopes that, at least, everything will end with a happy ending.
