Barca's Marcos Alonso will have to undergo surgery

Injuries are back at Barcelona until the last day of 2023. The azulgrana team will not be able to count on Marcos Alonso in the near future due to his lumbar problems. According to information from 'Marca' he will be out for 6-8 weeks.
"Marcos Alonso is to undergo surgery on the problems in the lumbar region of his back that have kept him sidelined in recent weeks. The club will be making an announcement immediately after to report on how the operation has gone,"read Barca's statement.
"The left back has played seven games this season, starting four of them and totalling 301 minutes of playing time. In total, he has made 44 appearances in the blaugrana jersey and has scored three goals," concluded the Catalan club's statement.
Xavi loses another player for the game against Las Palmas on 4 January, the first of the year, and also for the Copa del Rey, at the weekend against Barbastro. Marcos Alonso has not played a game for Barcelona for almost two months, on 7 November against Shakhtar Donetsk. In fact, he has only played 7 games, 4 in La Liga and 3 in the Champions League.
