Barcelona have started to work on their squad for next season. Despite all eyes being on Lionel Messi's return, the board are looking for a right-back to strengthen the defensive line.
With this in mind, 'Sport' have reported that Barca have their eye on seven candidates. Only one of them plays in Spain, which is Girona man Arnau Martinez.
As for the others, those on the watch-list are : Alexander Bah (Benfica), Amar Dedic (RB Salzburgo), Jeremie Frimpong (Bayer Leverkusen), Diogo Dalot (Manchester United), Stephane Singo (Torino) and Thomas Meunier (Borussia Dortmund).
Portugal's Dalot was close to playing for Barca during the January transfer window, but negotiations fell through. The Catalan side could go for him again in the upcoming summer window.
Currently, Xavi's side don't have an out-and-out right-back in the squad. Jules Kounde, Sergi Roberto and even Ronald Araujo are those who have been regularly rotated in that spot.
If al goes to plan, everything seems to suggest that Barcelona will be getting a reinforcement for the position. The candidates are on the table and the board, together with the manager, will have to make a decision.
