FC Barcelona will be taking part in the 2023/2024 Champions League. According to Mundo Deportivo, the UEFA Appeals Committee will provisionally accept Barcelona's participation in the continent's most prestigious club competition.
The European body will make this decision official on Thursday, after approving the reports of the investigators who studied the Negreira affaire. In principle, there is no evidence of sporting corruption, so there will be no sanctions against the Catalan club either.
Whether or not this decision is provisional depends on the progress of the case before the courts. Until now, the lack of evidence has preserved the club's presumption of innocence. Until proven otherwise, Barca are not guilty in this case.
The 'Cules' will therefore be in the draw for the group stage, which takes place on 31st August. Xavi's team, who have made this competition their main objective after recent disappointing performances, will be in the pot 1 alongside Sevilla, Manchester City, Bayern Munich, Paris Saint-Germain, Benfica, Napoli and Feyenoord.
