Barcelona chief Laporta urges Deco to sign Olmo and Nico Williams

With the end of the European Championship and the football ‘free’ space between Berlin and the Olympic Games, information about the transfer market is intensifying. Gerard Romero, in ‘Jijantes’, indicates that Barcelona president Joan Laporta has asked his sporting director, Deco, to do everything possible to close the deals for Nico Williams -Athletic- and Dani Olmo -Leipzig-. There have already been meetings to make progress on both fronts.
The one that seems most likely is the one that would bring Ernesto Valverde's man to Hansi Flick's dressing room. During this summer's continental championship, in which the Spanish national team were crowned champions, his good relationship with Lamine Yamal has excited the fans of the Catalan giants. In fact Laporta has already stated in public that his arrival at the ‘Cule’ team can be arranged financially.
Bringing the winger together with his compatriot is a more complex endgame. The playmaker has a €60m clause that expires on Saturday, so the 'Cules' board have just a couple of days to put the money on the table. From Teutonic soil, it is warned that Atletico Madrid is in the lead, although the footballer does not see in the ‘Colchoneros’ his preferred option.
It should be noted that Barcelona are confident of being able to hold on to the 1:1 rule once again in this transfer window. To undertake these two operations would imply a cost of around 120 million, which would be difficult to fit into the expenses section of the Catalan budget. However, this amount would be amortised over the years of the contracts signed by Nico Williams and Dani Olmo, as La Liga president Javier Tebas has already explained in an interview in recent weeks.
