Barcelona had Joshua Kimmich's name on their agenda as a priority option to reinforce their midfield. However, after assessing the risks of the operation, they have decided to pull out of the bidding for the German international.
According to 'Sport', Barca have given up on signing the German this summer due to the price Bayern have set for him and the versatile player's high salary. The Bavarians are demanding 50 million euros for his transfer.
Despite not trying to sign him this summer, the club could still afford to sign him in 2025, when his contract with Munich expires. This alternative is unlikely, as Kompany's team wants to renew him on a long-term basis and, if not, would prefer to find a way out before he is released.
PSG and Manchester City are still in the race for Kimmich. The French have been in contact with him since before the European Championship, while the English have only asked Bayern for a price.
Kimmich had the approval of both Xavi, when he was in charge of the bench, and Flick, the Catalan boss' replacement. The Blaugranas are forced to think about other options, such as Mikel Merino.
