Pedri launched a message of self-criticism on his social networks, asking for "no more excuses" to face the tough moment Barcelona are going through after losing the final of the Spanish Super Cup, being eliminated in the Copa del Rey and distancing themselves from the fight for La Liga, and asked his teammates to "pull this off" for Xavi Hernandez.
Pedri backed Xavi, following the Barcelona coach's announcement after the league defeat to Villarreal that left him 11 points behind Girona and 10 points behind Real Madrid, that he would be stepping down at the end of the season.
"These are very difficult days for everyone. We have to stop making excuses and be critical of ourselves to move forward for the sake of the coach, for the team and, above all, for the club and for you," Pedri wrote in a message to Barcelona fans.
Alongside images of a goal celebration against Villarreal and a play action, Pedri added emoticons of hands asking for forgiveness and a wounded heart. "Forca Barca!", he closed with a message similar to that of the young Pau Cubarsi, who posted on his social networks: "Visca el Barca sempre".
