Pau Cubarsi has extended his contract with Barcelona until 2027. The centre-back, who has stood out this season thanks to his good ball control, has committed himself to the club of his life.
"Barcelona and the player Pau Cubarsi have reached an agreement on the renewal of his contract, which will tie him to the club until 30 June 2027. The termination clause will be 500 million euros," the 'Cule' club said in the statement.
Cubarsi signed his new contract on Thursday morning. In addition to the centre-back, Barcelona president Joan Laporta, first vice-president Rafa Yuste, director of sporting football Joan Soler and sporting director Deco were also present.
The defender has only just landed in the Spanish top flight, but he has already become one of Xavi Hernandez's key players in the starting eleven. His commitment to the youth system, together with the injuries he has suffered at the back, have opened wide the doors to the first team.
Cubarsi made his official debut on 18th January 2024 in a Copa del Rey match against Unionistas. In the play-off against Napoli, he established himself as a very valuable player with a great ability to play the ball out from the back.
Since 18th January, Cubarsi has played a total of 20 games in the first team shirt, starting 17 of them. He currently plays alongside Ronald Araujo in the centre-back pairing.
