Real Sociedad coach Imanol Alguacil praised his team for their 1-0 win over FC Barcelona, stressing that the victory was “deserved and fair” and adding that “the team should have won by more goals”. Imanol stressed that the victory “is more Real's merit than Barcelona's lack of it”.
The 'Txuri-urdin' coach was proud of his team's game and declared that the team had to play “to the limit” so that Barcelona would not generate goal chances. Imanol did not want to be satisfied with the victory, since, if it is not followed up, “it won't be worth anything”, although he stressed that the team has played well in every game during this last phase of the season.
Real Sociedad had one day less of rest than the Catalan giants; hence he praised the “high physical condition” of his players after the effort of the Europa League match in Pilsen (Czech Republic).
For his part, Spanish midfielder Brais Mendez praised Barcelona's recent performances. "We really wanted to win at home and there was no better team to do it against. They are the most in-form team in Europe and the fans deserved a night like this."
