Barcelona to negotiate with Juventus as Szczesny gives green light
Wojciech Szczesny is Barcelona's choice to replace the injured Marc-Andre ter Stegen. The Pole has been given the green light to the club but will have to negotiate with Juventus, who kept an option should the Pole return to the pitch before 30th June 2025.

Barcelona already have a first-choice goalkeeper for the current season... with one negotiation to go. Ter Stegen's long-term injury forced the club to go to the market for free goalkeepers, and the chosen one is Wojciech Szczesny.
The Pole retired by surprise at the end of last August, after Thiago Motta closed the door on him at Juventus. However, a month later, he could become Barcelona's solution.
First ‘El Chiringuito’ and then ‘Relevo’ claimed that Szczesny have given green light to Barcelona to replace Ter Stegen, who will miss the rest of the season. However, his arrival will not be as easy as it seems.
According to ‘Relay’, the goalkeeper and Juventus signed an agreement whereby, if the Pole backs out of his decision to retire before 30th June 2025, he will have to pay a financial penalty. All this is due to the fact that Szczesny was under contract this season.
Therefore, the goalkeeper and the two clubs will have to negotiate the payment in favour of Juventus to release the goalkeeper so that he can become Ter Stegen's replacement, as Barcelona do not have faith in Inaki Pena's progress as first-choice goalkeeper.
In addition, it is worth remembering, as ‘Relevo’ does, that Szczesny will not be able to play in the Champions League until the end of the group stage, as registration is over and only players on the B list can be included.
