Inter Milan have released an official statement confirming that Nicolo Barella has suffered a strain in the rectus femoris of his right thigh during the Milan derby on Sunday. His conditions will be asessed next week, which means he is set to be sidelined for Inter's second fixture in the Champions League against Red Star Belgrade.

Inter will not be able to rely on Nicolo Barella for one week, at least. The Italian midfielder sustained an injury to the rectus femoris of his right thigh in the clash against AC Milan, which forced him off the pitch at the 74th minute of the game. His conditions will be assessed in the coming week, as confirmed by Inter Milan via an official medical statement.
As a result, Barella will miss the Serie A game against Udinese, while the Champions League game against Red Star Belgrade and league fixture against Torino remain a doubt. The player will not rush to make a comeback in order to guaranatee 100% fitness for the crucial match against Roma, which will take place on October 20th, just before the second international break.
Barella is a key player for Simone Inzaghi, who started him in every game in the season so far, minus the Monza clash, in which the head coach let the vice-captain rest.
