Joao Cancelo will be returned home to Manchester City by Bayern Munich this summer. He walks away from his German loan club with a Bundesliga title that he helped them win on Saturday, but the Bavarians have reportedly decided not to trigger the buy option in his loan agreement.
Journalist Fabrizio Romano reports that the right-back would have cost Bayern 70 million euros, but the club don't want to keep him after their title win. It seems he's not particularly wanted back home as Romano also reports that the Cityzens are looking to sell him this summer.
He joined the Sky Blues in 2019 and is under contract until 2027, but there are several reported suitors looking to whisk the Portuguese international away. Among the list are Arsenal, who finished second to Man City after leading the Premier League almost all season. City might be hesitant to let an experienced player like Cancelo go to a team that have show themselves to be rivals.
Another potential destination could be Barcelona, but they are currently embroiled in 'Financial Fair-Play' investigations, and if they are indeed hoping to bring back club legend Lionel Messi, they might not have the extra cash to be spending on someone as pricey as Cancelo.
