"Bellingham is a phenomenon, but Foden is England’s most naturally-gifted footballer"
England have unveiled their Euro 2024 pre-list as one of the favourites. Jamie Carragher insists that, despite Jude Bellingham's impressive debut campaign at Real Madrid, Manchester City's Phil Foden is better.

England are one of the favourites to win the European Championship this summer. Gareth Southgate has assembled a star-studded squad that will have to work together to win the title that eluded them in the last edition.
Two of the leaders are Jude Bellingham and Phil Foden, both of whom are Ballon d'Or candidates. Former Liverpool player Jamie Carragher is clear about who he would choose if it were him.
"Bellingham is a phenomenon, but for me Foden is England’s most naturally-gifted footballer. I know some people will take that as a criticism, but it's far from it. You can prefer John Lennon's songs to Paul McCartney's and still admire the talent of both," Carragher said in his column in 'The Telegraph'.
"Foden and Bellingham are different profiles. Jude is in the tradition of multi-dimensional midfielders. Tactically he is a dream player, but I'm not sure if England have ever had a player similar to Foden," he continued.
Said Carragher that "Phil has something in common with Spanish or Portuguese players". "Whenever I see that first touch, his control and movement in tight spaces, more akin to ballet, Zidane and Iniesta come to mind," he said.
