According to 'the Athletic', Tottenham are ready to extend Ben Davies' stint at the club to 12 years. The Welshman's contract expires at the end of the season, but his deal - signed in 2022 - also includes the option to tie him down for an additional year, which Spurs look set to trigger.
This means that the defender, who is already Tottenham's longest serving player, will continue playing at the club he signed for back in 2014. Davies left Swansea a decade ago to become Mauricio Pochettino's first signing, and has since made 330 appearances for Tottenham.
Davies has enjoyed the north London side's most sucessful era in recent times and is now the only remaining player at the club who was part their historic Champions League run in 2019, when Spurs faced off Liverpool in the final.
Although he is no longer a regular starter, Davies is highly regarded by everyone at Tottenham. The 31-year-old is currently filling in for his injured teammates Romero and Van de Ven, which granted him his first start in the Premier League this season in Tottenham's 4-0 win at Manchester City on Saturday.
