Karim Benzema has only played 27 minutes since he started and played the whole game against Elche on 19th October. He played for 27 minutes after coming off the bench on 2nd November against Celtic in the Champions League, but his injuries have kept him in the medical room up until now.
In Lyon, where he showed his Balon d'Or off in front of the fans before the Lyon-Nice game, the Real Madrid was asked about his injury and about how he is feeling before the World Cup, for which he was called up by France. What he had to say calmed 'Bleus' fans' nerves.
"I had a few slight twinges, nothing serious. There's still time from now until the 22nd November. I'll be in good shape, and mentally and physically prepared", he claimed to 'Primer Video' before saying what it would mean to him to lift the World Cup.
"It would be one of the best birthday presents for me. Each game will be a final. We have a very strong side, we're going to take it game by game", said a Benzema who has returned to the national side after nearly six years ruled out because of the 'Valbuena case'.
France kick off their World Cup campaign in Group D, on 22nd November against Australia. On the 26th they have their second match against Denmark, their bogey team over the last few years, and they'll finish off their campaign against Tunisia on the 30th.
