FIFA's The Best awards is one of the most eagerly awaited awards ceremonies in football together with the Ballon d'Or. Of those in the preliminary list, only three make the final cut.
On Friday, the three players in the running for the award were revealed. One of Karim Benzema, Leo Messi and Kylian Mbappe will win the trophy on 27th February.
The first of them, despite not going to the World Cup in Qatar, is one of the best players at the moment. His great season last term, together with the Ballon d'Or, have put him in pole position to win The Best as well.
The number 9 has scored a whopping 44 goals in all competitions in the 46 games he played. That see him having beaten his own goalscoring record. Benzema was crucial to his team's success and he helped them win the Champions League.
As for the Argentine, there are more than enough reasons to give him the award. He won the World Cup, shone in the competition and scored a brace in the final.
Messi has formed a devastating front three together with Neymar and Mbappe at PSG. Despite it not being his best year in terms of scoring goals, the number 30 has been fundamental for the coach.
The same goes for Mbappe, who scored a hat-trick in the World Cup final. The Frenchman is also the leader both for his club PSG and his country.
At the age of 24, he is set to become the next French captain. His physical strength and his quality have led to him scoring almost 200 goals for PSG. For France, he has scored 36 goals and provided 19 assists and his high point came in the 2018 World Cup.
