"Big clubs are the ones who complain the most about referees"

Girona's captain Cristhian Stuani appeared in the press room and got into the refereeing controversy of recent days. The striker wanted to take pressure off the figure of the referees and also considered that the big teams are the ones who complain the most.

Girona captain Cristhian Stuani lamented on Wednesday in a virtual press conference that the teams that “constantly” complain about referees are “the biggest clubs”.
Stuani has sent “a message of confidence and solidarity” to the refereeing collective, which, in his opinion, is lately exposed to an “impressive media pressure” and has urged fans to enjoy football.
In this sense, the Uruguayan striker added that continuous complaints and pressures “do not help” football and that “we must support, respect and let the referees work”, before stressing that his message is not dedicated to Real Madrid, Girona's next rival in La Liga, but speaks “in general”.
The Uruguayan footballer specified that he does not believe that the referee for Sunday's match at the Bernabeu can be conditioned by certain pressures.
Nevertheless, he said that Girona will be looking to beat Real Madrid, although he admitted that they will need to play “a perfect game”.
However, he recalled that Girona already know what it is like to beat Real Madrid at their stadium (2018) and, on a personal level, he said that playing against the 'Merengues' “is always an extra illusion, a special moment”.
The captain also acknowledged that the dressing room is “a bit annoyed” by the poor run of results, with six defeats in the last seven games.
The objective, according to Stuani, is to “reverse the situation” and fight for “important things”, but he pointed out that the team must go “game by game” and generate “an environment of maximum self-esteem” so that the players can give their best.
