"Brazil will always be favourites because of their history"

Marquinhos, who is one of the most veteran members of the Brazilian national team, said the 'Canarinha' will have to show why they are favourites in the Copa America on the pitch.
The PSG defender said that "the team to beat are always the champions", namely Argentina. But he also sees Brazil among the candidates for the title because of their history.
In both cases, he said that "favouritism has to be demonstrated by the game on the pitch". Meanwhile, he recalled that in 2021 Brazil were the favourites and were in a better moment than Argentina, but it was the 'Albiceleste' who took the trophy.
"Brazil, because of their shirt and their history, will always be favourites. But where you have to talk is on the pitch," said Marquinhos at a press conference.
On the form of the Brazilian team, Marquinhos said that coach Dorival Junior is doing a good job. However, he acknowledged that at the start of a new administration there are always "changes" to be made to improve the game.
Brazil will make their Copa America debut on 25 June against Costa Rica in Los Angeles, and then face Paraguay and Colombia in Group D.
