Portuguese coach Bruno Lage was announced on Thursday as Benfica's new manager to replace the recently sacked Roger Schmidt and will take charge of the club for the second time in his career in a bid to rescue the team from the results crisis they have entered the campaign with.
Lage, 48, came through several Benfica's academy and returned for the 2018/19 term to take charge of the academy after spells as Carlos Carvalhal's assistant at Sheffield Wednesday and Swansea.
He took the reins of the first team midway through that season, following the sacking of manager Rui Vitoria, and won the league title with a squad that included Joao Felix.
He then moved on to Wolverhampton Wanderers and, most recently, Botafogo. He promised "a lot of work" at his press conference on Thursday at his presentation to the media.
