Inter Milan's Hakan Calhanoglu admitted to the police in Milan, who are involved in the 'ultras investigation', that he had direct contact with the leaders of his team's radical fans 'ultras', which could see him facing a lengthy suspension, as it is an act punishable under the Sporting Code.
The midfielder testiefied on Wednesday at the Milan Police Headquarters. While he is not under investigation, he counts as an individual witholding important information on the key figures of the Inter ‘ultras ’. AC Milan captain Davide Calabria also provided a testimony to the police, as he also held contacts with his side's set of 'ultra' members.
According to 'La Stampa', Calhanoglu denied to having met with them at dinners or lunches, and further revealed that Inter advised him not to have contacts with the so-called ‘ultras’ leaders. The Italian Football Federation's (FIGC) Prosecutor's Office has asked Milan to provide documents in order to initiate legal proceedings in the sporting sphere, independent of the ordinary one.
As per the FIGC Sporting Code, both Calabria and Calhanoglu are now at risk of facing sanctions. The punishment could involve suspension from one or more matches alongside a financial penalty of €20,000. "It is forbidden for individual belonging to a sporting entity to maintain relations with representatives of groups that legally do not hold any agreement with the club,’ reads the Sporting Code. Inter and AC Milan, for the moment, are not implicated in the investigation of the Milan Prosecutor's Office as entities.
