Joao Cancelo wants to join Barcelona to reinforce the right flank as soon as possible. The Catalan giants have not yet reached an agreement with Manchester City but negotiations are still progressing.
According to journalist Fabrizio Romano, both parties are trying to reach a mutual agreement for the Portuguese defender's transfer. The 29-year-old is expected to join the Catalan side on loan although his deal will include an option to buy.
Barcelona have sold nearly a third of shares in the club's digital platform Barca Vision for 120 million euros ($131.9m), in a move which should ease the recruitment of new players.
German-based LIBERO football finance AG and private investors, advised by Dutch company NIPA Capital B.V. have become new partners in Bridgeburg Invest, the holding company of Barca Vision.
As a result, Cancelo's transfer is more feasible than ever. Joan Laporta will be able to present a good offer to Manchester City for the Portugal international.
Xavi Hernandez's side have been without a right-back in recent seasons as the Spanish coach has had to rely on several defenders such as Jules Kounde and Ronald Araujo.
