FC Barcelona player Joao Cancelo denounced threats against him and his family in a statement to 'ESPN': "They've told me everything. There are comments on Instagram that wish death to my daughter, who is about to be born.
"They don't say that to my face, for sure, because we're going to have problems, but in comments they say whatever," the Portuguese reproached those who hide behind a nickname on social networks.
The full-back's performance against PSG was very poor, as Cancelo was unable to stop the attacks of Ousmane Dembele and also committed an absurd penalty on the Frenchman. This has led to him receiving derogatory and hurtful messages.
Joao Cancelo acknowledged the level of tension in football: "They offend my wife, my daughter who is about to be born, my baby. Today the world is cruel and you have to know how to live with that. Wishing death on a baby is a very serious thing. Let them criticise me as a player like Ferdinand did, but let them not talk about my family. Let them talk about me as a player, not as a person.
